Sweet Dreams & Survival – A Video about SMS Sleep

October 16, 2017

We are delighted to release the third film in our series. Sweet Dreams & Survival is a video about the sleep difficulties associated with Smith-Magenis syndrome, and in this film we ask a number of different families the following questions:

  • Describe their bedroom or night time routine
  • Do you receive much support for respite in your area?
  • What kind of medication do they take?

A severely disrupted sleep pattern is one of the key symptoms of Smith-Magenis syndrome and this has a huge impact on families living with a child or adult with SMS. In this film we see how different families manage the challenges of caring for their child through the night, and how they cope with disturbed sleep on a daily basis.

Credits

The SMS Foundation would like to thank all those who helped to make these films, in particular the families willing to provide an insight into their experiences of living with SMS, including: Bernie Ogilvie, Lynn Archer and Emma Monks, Anna and Matt Ferreira, Tony and Rachel Stokes, Heather and Jon Gunnell, Dawn and Richard Arnold, Sue Rudderham and Roy Clarke, Diane Erth, Christine and Tim Dudley, and Kelly Heeley.

A huge thank you also to Poppy Watson and Cassie Arnold for asking the questions on this video, you both did a fab job!

Finally, an extra special “Thank You” to Salli Hunt for coordinating the films (as well as featuring in them) and the super talented videographer Stephen Crawford.
