We are thrilled to announce that tonight’s winner of the ‘Terrific Trustee’ category at the SCVO Charity Awards is our very own Nigel Over!
The award recognises Nigel’s tireless contribution and efforts as a trustee, where he has brought vision and practical solutions to resolve many issues the charity has faced.
Over the past 6 months, Nigel has overseen our transition from a registered charity to a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation), a strategic move to enable the future growth and sustainability of the Foundation.
A well-deserved win to a great trustee who has worked tirelessly for the Foundation and all its members.
Hazel Wotherspoon, Chair of Board of Trustees
Nigel remains at the heart of the charity connecting families, raising awareness, and building futures for everyone who is affected by the syndrome.
Speaking to Nigel about his win, he says,
I was absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for the SCVO Terrific Trustee Award. To win this award is quite overwhelming. Thank you to Hazel Wotherspoon, our chairperson, who twisted my arm to join the Board of the Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) Foundation UK back in 2012, and the trustees who have tirelessly dedicated their time to the charity. Together we have not only saved the Foundation but have turned it into a highly respected genetic disorder charity in Scotland, throughout the UK, and across the World. I joined to make a difference in the lives of those who live with Smith-Magenis syndrome. Winning this award is a testament that we are heading in the right direction. Thank you.
