Newlife’s Emergency Equipment Loan Service

Newlife’s Emergency Equipment Loan Service aims to address the specific needs of life-threatened/limited and terminally ill children and their families and/or protect children with disabilities from immediate and significant injuries. This free service provides fast access to equipment for a fixed period while statutory services provide longer-term support.

We know that these children need effective equipment to be supplied by a service which prioritise their urgent essential equipment needs, which is why we aim to deliver the equipment within 72 hours, once the family have accepted the terms of the loan and the equipment specification has been professionally confirmed and Newlife have agreed to cover the associated costs.

The cost of individual adaptations, technical repairs and maintenance are covered by Newlife, at no cost to the family. Emotional support and guidance will also be available through Newlife’s Nurse Helpline.

Last year, an increase in demand for urgent help led to investments in the purchase of equipment that we can deliver anywhere in the UK within three working days once we have committed to help. We are now in a fortunate position to help more families than ever before.

The increase in equipment includes a number of enclosed beds, including the Safespace Voyager and Safety Sleeper. These additions mean we are able to help more children who require enclosed spaces to meet their sensory needs and keep them safe while they sleep.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for the service, the child/young person has to be:

  • Under 19 years old
  • Permanent resident in the UK
  • Significantly disabled and at immediate risk of significant injury or has a life-threatening/limiting condition.

How to apply?

All you have to do call Newlife’s Nurses on 0800 902 0095 to check eligibility and to ensure you have an appropriate health or social care professional engaged in your child’s care. They should confirm the appropriateness of the specification of equipment being requested, and fill in the online application form on our website at www.newlifecharity.co.uk
