Help Us to Deliver our Programmes and Projects

Becoming a Project Volunteer with The SMS Foundation is not just a commitment to our cause, it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while enriching your own life.

Our Project Volunteers play a vital role in delivering essential support and services to our community, all while drawing from their first-hand understanding of the challenges of living with SMS. We recognise that many parents and carers may find themselves unable to work due to care commitments, and volunteering on our projects provides a way to keep your skills sharp, make a difference in the lives of families living with SMS, and contribute to our mission.

Our commitment to you will be:

  • You’ll have access to any training needed in processes and systems, ensuring you’re well-equipped.
  • The flexibility of our remote working model means you can contribute from the comfort of your own home, with working hours tailored to accommodate your routine and schedule.
  • Our staff and project team are dedicated to arranging meetings at the most convenient times for everyone involved, ensuring a seamless and collaborative experience.

Join our dedicated team of Project Volunteers, you’ll gain so much in return:

  • You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re providing vital support to families living with SMS.
  • Your shared experiences will forge lasting connections and friendships with others who truly understand your journey.
  • Your input and feedback will be highly valued as you contribute to shaping the work of The SMS Foundation.
  • You’ll gain a deeper understanding of SMS, enrich your social connections within the SMS community, and acquire valuable technical skills.
  • Your contributions to our organisation will be recognised and can be an asset if you’re seeking future employment opportunities.
  • You’ll be part of a creative and engaged team, where your ideas will be heard and valued.

Most importantly, by joining us as a Project Volunteer, you’ll be playing a pivotal role in supporting the future success of our charity. You’ll be part of the team responsible for delivering our ambitious projects and programmes, and your dedication will help us continue making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by Smith-Magenis Syndrome.

Join us today and become an integral part of our mission to create a positive future for our SMS community.
