Julia Russett, based in Wiltshire, ran the Bath half marathon in March this year. She now plans to extend her fundraising efforts and run the Swindon half marathon in September.
I am running the Bath Half Marathon for two reasons, one well I need an excuse to get fit and well unless I have a goal I will never and I mean never get off the couch. Whist I am running I need inspiration and that’s where running to raise money for charity comes in.
When I became pregnant with my first child I met a lovely group of people who were also expecting their first child. Over the coming months we became great friends and soon our little bundles of joy and sleep depriving babies arrived. One of the children was born with Smith-Magenis Syndrome, however this was not properly diagnosed until she was 3 years old. I am raising money to help fund the SMS Foundation so they will be able to continue to support families, who have children of all ages, with Smith-Magenis Syndrome and also provide information for professionals working with these families.
Due to raising nearly double the amount I first set out to raise I feel it’s only fair to do double the amount of work…. So I am now also running the Swindon Half Marathon on the 3rd September 2017.
